Domains (also known as ‘domain names’ or ‘web domains’) are names you can rent for use with your website or other internet services such as email. Domains use a domain name system (DNS) to convert a name of a requested website (such as google.com) to an IP address – which is how your computer connects to the web server. Typically, you rent domains these for a year or two from a registrar, who’s job will be to register the domain name on your behalf.
